The Battle of Pydna, from 168 BC, is the time of onset of the Balkan Peninsula incorporation in the future Roman Empire. Outcome of the battle was influenced by the attitude of the Getic army, which not entered the battle. The existence of this army proves the existence of a strengthened Getic state. The commander of this army, Cloilios, seems to have some connection with the Roman aristocratic family of Cloelia, who provided the Roman state, even at that time, with top officials in finance, diplomacy and priesthood.
