Local society in pre-Roman Dacia has experienced urban-type development of human settlements. The urban processes from Geto-Dacian areas started under the momentum provided by the Greek colonies from the Left Pontus and ended abruptly under the pressure from Roman urban-type colonization. During the six centuries of autonomous development, the local urbanism - which has not reached higher edilitary standards except in some isolated cases, such as Dausdava or Sarmizegetusa - had some peculiarities.
