The proposed author lived between 1616 and 1665, born in the town of Unna in North Rhine-Westphalia. He was a remarkable personality of his time through his legal knowledge especially in the field of citizenship, as evidenced by the works Iconographia municipalis. Sive de iure et iurisdictione municipiorum (published in five editions between 1650 and 1657) and Politia municipalis, published in seven editions around the same time. But without a doubt his most interesting and intriguing treatise already by title remains the Treatise on Lies.
